How to Produce Precision Casting Parts Better?

2025-07-29

For investment casting parts, achieving true product excellence requires not only meticulous control during the casting process itself but also strict post-casting procedures to ensure high-quality output. This is especially critical for thin-walled parts, which often require supplementary processes to refine the castings and meet functional specifications. In Oem Investment Casting, many products demand tailored post-processing based on their actual application to guarantee compliance with performance requirements. Below, I will analyze several common auxiliary processes based on our recent production of specific components.

1.      Shape Correction Auxiliary Process

Many customized precision Casting Products feature thin walls or complex geometries, which often leads to deformation during the manufacturing process. Such distortions can render the parts non-functional or unfit for assembly. To address this, corrective post-casting processing (shape rectification) must be applied. This involves mechanically reforming the warped components—typically through controlled force—to restore their original designed dimensions and geometry. Only through this corrective step can the parts meet both functional and assembly requirements.

  1. 2.      Machining-Assisted Post-Processing

Although investment casting is a high-precision manufacturing process capable of meeting functional requirements for most components, certain product specifications—such as bearing mounting holes or precision assembly interfaces—may exceed its inherent capabilities. In such cases, supplementary machining processes become essential. To address this, we strategically allocate machining allowances to critical functional or high-tolerance areas during the casting design phase. Post-casting, these designated areas undergo precision CNC machining. Our standard secondary machining operations include CNC turning, CNC milling, grinding, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), and Wire EDM, ensuring final components meet exacting dimensional requirements.

    3.      Surface Finishing Auxiliary Process

Investment casting inherently produces components with superior surface finish quality. However, certain applications demand exceptionally high surface smoothness due to functional or aesthetic requirements. In such cases, additional finishing processes such as flow polishing or precision buffing can be implemented post-casting to achieve the necessary surface refinement and meet stringent product specifications.

  2. Investment casting foundry

Not all investment cast components require these post-processing treatments - they are specifically applied to parts with unique structural features, high-precision assembly/functional demands, or exceptional aesthetic requirements. As an OEM investment casting foundry, we carefully evaluate each client's product specifications to determine the appropriate post-casting solutions. Beyond the mentioned processes, we also offer various other treatments including heat treatment, blackening, spray coating, and more - all aimed at ensuring the final product meets its intended performance criteria.
